What books do YOU want to know about?

Well, the play is long over, and it's left a big gaping whole in my life (but it left behind a lot of great new friends) and I'm thinking I'll fill that whole a bit with some reading. Sound like a plan?

Here's the dealio:

I've got a TON of books to read! So many! I don't know which to read first! So, of course, I'll ask my bookie friends. Then again... I haven't been getting very good results from those bets (sorry, lame joke).

Anyway. Here are some of the titles I've got waiting on my shelf. Which should I read? Vote in the sidebar and comment here if you want.

Artemis Fowl & the Time Paradox, Eoin Colfer
Boyology, Sarah O'Leary Burningham
Inkdeath, Cornelia Funke
Princess of the Midnight Ball, Jessica Day George
Dragon Spear, Jessica Day George
How to Buy a Love of Reading, Tanya Egan Gibson
The Princess and the Hound/Bear, Mette Ivie Harrison
The Mysterious Benedict Society and the Perilous Journey, Trenton Lee Steward
Bloodhound, Tamora Peirce
Just One Wish, Janette Rallison
Wings, Aprilynne Pike
The Graveyard Book, Neil Gaiman

*whistle* Wow. All great books. I'm torn! Cast your votes! Please! And if you know of any more, let me know!

**The Maze Runner-- James Dashner

Take The Hunger Games, Life as we Knew it, and The Declaration roll up up into a nice little ball, take out all the bad parts, add some Dashner-flair and a puzzle and voila! You have The Maze Runner.
"When Thomas wakes up in the lift, the only thing he can remember is his first name. He has no recollection of his parents, his home, or how he got where he is. His memory is black. But he’s not alone. When the lift’s doors open, Thomas finds himself surrounded by kids who welcome him to the Glade, a large expanse enclosed by stone walls.
"Just like Thomas, the Gladers don’t know why or how they got to the Glade. All they know is that every morning, for as long as they could remember, the stone doors to the maze that surrounds them have opened. Every night, they’ve closed tight. Every thirty days a new boy is delivered in the lift. And no one wants to be stuck in the maze after dark.
"The Gladers were expecting Thomas’s arrival. But the next day, a girl springs up—the first girl ever to arrive in the Glade. And more surprising yet is the message she delivers. The Gladers have always been convinced that if they can solve the maze that surrounds the Glade, they might be able to find their way home . . . wherever that may be. But it’s looking more and more as if the maze is unsolvable.
And something about the girl’s arrival is starting to make Thomas feel different. Something is telling him that he just might have some answers—if he can only find a way to retrieve the dark secrets locked within his own mind."
This book kept me on the edge of my seat! It held everything a good suspense/sci-fi/puzzle/thriller book should have. There was a mystery, a hero, his helpers, his villains, puzzles (I LOVE Dashner's puzzles), an apocalypse, a twist, monsters, and some violence. Honestly, I don't think this book was missing anything. The only thing I wish was different is that I wish it was longer. Then again, I read it in two days, and whenever I do that I tend to think the books are really short when they aren't. Plus, I was so excited by the end of the book that I just started to skim. I'm definitely going to have to re-read this one.

That's all I'm going to say for now, I don't want to give away any spoilers. The Maze Runner comes out in October, and it's definitely one you want to keep an eye out for.

Best. Play. Ever!!!

Yesterday was our opening night for The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940. It's the BEST PLAY EVER! People were laughing so hard they were crying! I love my cast! I love my crew (which consists of me and one other person)! Hooray for small productions that totally dominate!!

If you're in the area you will NOT regret coming to this, and it's totally family friendly! But we only have two more nights. Which makes me sad.

*happy sigh* Complete strangers were coming up to me after this and saying, "You directed this? Wow."

This is what I needed in my life. :)

Absentee, AGAIN!

Grr. Well, once again it's the last week before a show, which means that Enna Isilee isn't really going to be around much. All next week we have dress rehearsals until we open on Friday. My actors don't have their lines memorized (CURSE THEM) but I do have faith in them.

What really stinks is that I have a huge pile of new ARCs and books that I'm dying to read. *sigh*

Well. I'll try to post, and I'll try to read. But I doubt I'll have anything other than this play on my brain for the next couple weeks.

Until then, you can just imagine I'm posting something witty. ;)

Reasons to be happy:

I have so many reasons to be happy!

1. Just got a new job!
-----I applied at the local museum, hoping to be a tour guide, but instead they called me in and interviewed me for the position of "reptile care person" which means I would feed the snakes/lizards/turtles three times a week. I thought that was pretty cool, but then I went back the next day and they offered me the position of helping to run the classes they hold fro 6-12 year olds during the summer. I'm SO EXCITED for this. I get to manage classes, go on hikes, and have fun with the kids! This is great for me since I'm going into education.
2. Bought myself a new wardrobe for my new job.
-----New sneakers (white Nike's with green accents[my favorite color!])
-----3 pairs of Khaki pants (I'm supposed to wear Khaki with my green museum shirt)
3. Got some FAB new books/
-----Just One Wish by Janette Rallison
-----Princess at the Midnight Ball by Jessica Day George
-----Bloodhound by Tamora Peirce
-----The Maze Runner by James Dashner. This book comes out in October, I'm so excited to read it!
4. Another shirt is up for scoring!
-----Limitless - Threadless T-shirts, Nude No More
5. School's just about over! Well... until next year.
6. I'm directing an AWESOME play.
-----Hey localies, it opens May 1st and goes on the 1st, 2nd, and 4th! You should come see!
7. I'm competing in a state drama competition today. Eeps!

Okay. That's all I can think of now, but I'm sure there's more.

*sigh* Happy days.
