Lil bit 'bout me.

I saw that Nicole at WORD for Teens did this. And it looked super-fun! And I'm sick, ergo too lazy to write a review today. If you decide to do this, leave a link in the comments!

Age: This is one of those things that I never reveal, as it would compromise my secret identity. Muahaha!

Bed Size: Twin

Chore that you hate: I've always hated dusting the blinds. So tedious!

Dogs: I'd love to get a Shi-tzu or a Jack Russel Terrier some day.

Essential start to your day: Shower. I literally CAN NOT function if I have not showered in the morning.

Favorite colors: My favorite base color is bright green. But I like to pair it with pink, orange, blue... so... my blog colors.

Gold or silver: I'm actually a big fan of two-tone! Is that cheating? I'd like my [completely hypothetical] wedding ring to be a mix of both gold and white gold (which is silver-y).

Height: 5'9" I'm one inch away from being able to join the tall club.

Instruments you play: At one point in time I could play the piano, flute, guitar, and nose flute. Now I can make sound with all four, but can't really play a song...

Job title: Reptile handler, theatre teaching assistant, library page (No joke. All three.)

Kids: HA! I have younger siblings? Does that count?

Live: Happy Valley! (I'll leave it to you to figure out which one)

Overnight hospital stays: Um... once I stayed overnight for a drug trial... but it wasn't really at a hospital. Most of my hospital stays happened during my "I want to eat everything" phase. And I don't really remember it.

Pet peeves: Boy, howdy. Hows about I just leave this one blank? Your computer my crash if I wrote them all down.

Quote from a movie: "You ask a serious question, I'll give you a serious answer: Happy enough. I don't expect much. I don't get much, I don't give much. I generally enjoy whatever comes along. That's my answer for you, summed up for your feminine consideration. I'm happy enough."

Right or left-handed: Right.

Siblings: Two brothers.

Time you wake up: Do I have school? Then probably around 6-8:30 depending on the day. No school? Closer to 11.

Underwear: Have you seen this video? I know not to answer this question online.

Vegetable you hate: Most of them... but particularly anything cooked. I'm fine with most raw vegetables.

What makes you run late: Mostly the internet, but also sleepiness.

X-Rays you've had: Teeth, and back. (My neck and spine are backwards!)

Yummy food that you make: Hm... one time I made awesome cookies. I also like to make bread. But... I don't cook a lot.

Zoo animal: Tigers!

My Life in Books Meme

I saw this over at Every Thing to Do With Books (who in turn got it from I was a teenage book geek) and I thought it had possibilities to be really funny! You have to fill in the end of the statement with a book title you've read this year. I tried to make them serious when I could, but usually I just picked one that sounded cool. :) Check it out! If you do it on your blog, leave a link in the comments!
  • In high school I was: The Nerd (Larry Shue)
  • People might be surprised I'm: The Lost Saint (Bree Despain)
  • I will never be: The Inferior (Peadar O Guilin)
  • My fantasy job is: The Gardener (S.A. Bodeen)
  • At the end of a long day I need: Nightshade (Andrea Cremer)
  • I hate it when [I have to take]: The Long Walk (Slavomir Rawicz)
  • Wish I had: The Light (DJ MacHale)
  • My family reunions are: My Double Life (Janette Rallison)
  • At a party you'd find me: Nomansland (Lesley Hauge)
  • I've never been to: Dust City (Robert Paul Weston)
  • A happy day includes: Firelight (Sophie Jordan)
  • Motto I live by: The Ask and the Answer (Patrick Ness)
  • On my bucket list: My Soul to Save (Rachel Vincent)
  • In my next life I want to be: Reckless (Cornelia Funke)

Bookshelf Meme

Thanks to Miss Erin, who tagged me!

Tell me about the book that has been on your shelf the longest...

Oh. Wow. I dunno. Some of these books just seem like they’ve been there forever. One book that isn’t actually on my shelf (it’s on my younger siblings’ shelf) is A Bargain for Francis. It’s one of my dearest and oldest friends.

Tell me about a book that reminds you of something specific in your life (i.e. a person, a place, a time, etc.)...

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Ya see, I didn’t have many “bookish” friends growing up. In fact, I only really had one, and we LOVED Harry Potter. I remember conversations that lasted HOURS after finishing tOotP. We thought of every possible conspiracy.

Tell me about a book you acquired in some interesting way (gift, serendipity in a used book store, prize, etc.)...

Oh… I’d have to say Book of a Thousand Days by Shannon Hale. It was the first ARC I ever received, and it’s what inspired me to start Squeaky Books

Tell me about the most recent addition to your shelves...

Well…. I have three books currently en route from Amazon: Princess at the Midnight Ball by Jessica Day George, Just One Wish by Janette Rallison, and Bloodhound by Tamora Peirce.

Tell me about a book that has been with you to the most places...

I’m actually EXTREMELY paranoid about taking my books ANYWHERE. I always check library books out and take them places rather than taking my own books anywhere. Heh. However, I did let my aunt borrow The Lost City of Faar, which she took to Europe.

Tell me about a bonus book that doesn't fit any of the above questions...

Well… I only own 2 nonfiction books: What’s Math Got to Do With it? By Jo Boaler. A FASCINATING book all about different mathematics teaching methods, and Freakonomics, which is just full of so many fun facts.

There you have it. A brief overview of my bookshelf.

I tag… Leigha, Nerd Goddess, and Priya

Meme Mood

I'm in a meme mood, but I haven't been tagged in forever! (or, at least I haven't noticed that I've been tagged)

Anyone know any good ones out there?

An Interesting Experiment. A Meme Headcount.

So you remember that "Be Heard!" meme I posted a while ago? Well, it was kind of an experiment. I made it up, and I wanted to see how it would spread throughout the blogging world. I tried to make a map of how it spread, but it got a little bit too complicated.

I posted first, then Q got Danielle, Leigha, and Merrisa to do it. Merrisa got Froggy to do it, Danielle got Summermoon and hwalk to do it. Summermoon got Anilee and Taiger to do it.

And it just goes on and on.

I was really interested to see how many people said things like "Everyone has already been tagged for this, so I'm not going to tag anyone." But truthfull, not everyone had been tagged.

Which has prompted me to say this:

If you like doing meme's, and would like to be tagged occasionally, please comment. If you do not comment, I will cease tagging you for memes. And if ever I do tag one of you that does comment, I will be sure to leave a comment on your blog so that you will be aware.

I LOVE doing memes. I think they're some of the greatest fun EVER. However, I often don't see that I've been tagged (Since I check my blogroll once a week, if I'm lucky). So if you tag me please let me know.

All right. That's all I have to say for now.

~Enna Isilee

Be Heard! A meme

Here’s a meme where your opinion gets to be heard! Here are the rules:

1. Copy and paste the blank form into your blog twice, only fill in one.
2. Fill in the blanks with whatever you think is the appropriate answer, bold your answer if you wish. And they don't exactly have to make sense.
3. Add one more item to the meme
4. Tag 4 people and comment on their blogs

I think it should be mandatory for each household to have ________

I think the President should name August 22nd _________ day.

I think stop signs should be a different color, I think they should be ________

I think that _______ is/are wasting America’s time, and we should replace it with _______

~~~~~
I think it should be mandatory for each household to have hot chocolate mix
I think the President should name August 22nd National SSR (Sit down, Shut up, and Read) day.
I think stop signs should be a different color, I think they should be florescent green.
An Ideal Life
The ideal meme, tagged by Taiger
Rules: if you're tagged, make sure to add one more ideal "thing" to the list, besides the items that are already there. Be as descriptive and random and silly as you want.
My ideal...
Snack: Dill pickles, cold string cheese, and cold, crisp apples.
Day: Acting a bit, playing a bit, reading a bit, relaxing a bit, hanging with friends.
Book: One with my name underneath the title (Yeah, at the rate I'm going that's never going to happen.).
Friend: Funny, witty, patient, kind.
Weather: Torrential summer rain!
Adventure: Hm... I'm really not much of an adventure person. I'd much rather just write about it, while in a five star hotel. Heh. Or just my bed. I've never been outdoorsy, I do like to travel though.
Music: Depends on what mood I'm in. Sometimes I want meaningful lyrics, sometimes I want a beautiful melody, and sometimes I just want something to listen to.
Birthday: Oh, maybe going to see Shannon with a few friends, then going to a bookstore, then going out to eat with aforementioned friends. (Hey, this sounds like my last birthday! ;) )
I tag... Gosh, who hasn't done this before? Um... NerdGoddess?
~Enna Isilee
And again today, plus a meme
Here 'tis. We're giving Charybids a second chance.
The 3
(which is unfortunately my unlucky number)
Meme
Here are the rules: I am going to list three categories of books. 3 MUST Read Books, 3 Keep Your Eyes on These, and 3 Look For These Soon. Keeping with the theme, I am going to tag at least 3 bloggers. They should put these same lists on their blog but SUBTRACT one book from each list and ADD one of their own. Then they should tag at least 3 more bloggers. It will be fun to see how the lists change as they go around the blogosphere. Please come back to this post and leave a comment so I can see how the lists are changing.
Since this is Book Buzz…please keep your lists to titles released in 2007-2009.
So, here goes…[asterisks are next to my additions]
3 Must Read Books:
A Little Less Talk and a Lot More Action (Signet Eclipse) by LuAnn McLane
Book of a Thousand Days by Shannon Hale**
The Host: A Novel by Stephenie Meyer
3 Keep Your Eyes on These:
The Sugar Queen by Sarah Addison Allen
The 13th Reality by James Dashner**
Small Favor (The Dresden Files, Book 10) by Jim Butcher
3 Look For These Soon:
Cybele's Secret by Juliette Marillier**
Magic And The Modern Girl (Red Dress Ink) by Mindy Klasky
A Fatal Slip by Melissa Glazer
And I'm going to tag:
Alysa (http://www.everead.blogspot.com/)
Author Meme
Tagged by Nicole and Kyle
The rules are...
• Link to the person that tagged you, post the rules somewhere in your meme, answer the questions, tag six people in your post, let the tagees know they’ve been chosen by leaving a comment on their blog, let the tagger know your entry is posted.
Who’s you all-time favorite author and why?
Shannon Hale, absolutely no doubt in my mind. I mean, hello have you seen my username? Not only is Shannon an amazing, funny, clever, and brilliant person, she’s also one of the most eloquent and talented writers to grace our century!
Who was your first favorite author and why? Do you still consider him/her among your favorites?
My first favorite author… hm… well, when I was little I grew up on the Animorphs series. I don’t even remember who the author was. Applegate, I think. Something Applegate. The first authors I ever really remember obsessing over are D.J. MacHale and Tamor Peirce. I guess they’re still some of my favorites.
Who’s the most recent addition to your list of favorite authors, and why?
Sarah Beth Durst would probably be my latest addition to my obsession list(that’s what I call it, though most of them aren’t actual obsessions). I have a ton of favorite books that I never even think of the authors, but Sarah was the last one I thought about and I regularly read her blog and whatnot.
If someone asked you who your favorite authors were right now, which authors would first pop out of your mouth? Are there any you’d add on a moment of further reflection?
Shannon Hale.
And on further reflection…
Uh… there are some other good ones, but they pale in comparision. I’m so biased.
Okay. I shall tag...
There were other meme's I was tagged for, but I'm already feeling overwhelmed so... that's it. I should be posting more regularly now, though.
Meme Madness
So I've finally been looking through all of my feeds and I've discovered I've been tagged for a bunch of memes. I love memes! I just usually don't notice when I've been tagged. So if you've tagged me, will you please let me know and possibly give me a link to the meme? I'd love to do it, but with end of school madness still going on (thank goodness the play is over at least) I don't have time to search them all out.
Thanks oodles!
The Mutating Meme
This is a Meme-y week.
Tagged by Ink Mage
-Copy and paste the questions, then fill in your answers. Post this on your blog, livejournal, etc. There’s a catch, though. You have to change/add a question from the meme you were tagged with.
- Post the rules.
-Link to the person who tagged you.
-Tag 3 people by commenting on their blog.
-Link back to the original to see how much it has mutated.
1.) If you could change your name, what would you change it to?
Enna-Isilee. Of course, I would only change it to that if I went back in time and that’s what it was originally. Because I’ve grown so used to it without the hyphen that I couldn’t readjust now. Though it would be nice… might stop some people from calling me just plain “Enna” (if you call me that then no worries, but now you know that I do not like it.
2.) If you were writing a book, what would your lead character's name be?
*sigh* Kaytan or Chloe. Kaytan’s more for a mythical setting, Chloe for a more realistic.
3.) What is your least favorite food?
Oh… I don’t like complicated foods, I may have mentioned this before. I like cheese, I like rice, I like chicken, but mix them all together and it’s a gag-fest. Chicken pot pie is extremely horrible. I’m “Monk”ish in these situations but… meh. C’est moi.
4.) Are there any songs that get stuck in your head really easily? How do you get them out? Ah! And now they’re all playing in my head at the same time! Thanks a lot! *grumbles* Stupid question.
5.) If you could be (or are) a mythical creature, what would it be (or what are you)? First instinct is to say dragon, but after thought I have decided that, despite their royal nature, I would not want to be hunted down, or scaly. So… maybe a winged horse.
6.) What do colors taste like?
Old eggs and toothpaste. Seriously.
7.) Which Disney princess is your favorite?
InkMage’s Answer:”Eew, Disney's animation?! None of them, thank you. They're all helpless little perfect-looking sticks.”
Not true! Granted, most of them are, but not Belle! I love her! She’s a reader and she loves her family.
8.) Name three (or more if you like) fawesome words.
Asparagus, lackadaisical, hippopotomonstrosesquipadaliophobia
9.) What kind of toothpaste do you use?
Crest and Colgate
10.) If you could chose one superpower, what would it be?
Flying! No doubt!
11.) What do you usually eat for breakfast?
Just an instant breakfast. That powdered chocolate put into warm milk. Easy, fast, and fills me until lunch.
12.) If there was one thing you could fix about your school (or work if you don’t go to school, or home if you don’t do either ;) ) what would it be, and what would you change it to?
Hm… what would I change… I would change the old, crotchety history teacher (who hates me) into a nice, young new teacher who could actually teach.
I tag... (I hate tagging, because I really want to tag people, but I don't know who's already been tagged or who reads my blog) Anilee...(I've seen you around a couple times) Q... (I know you do memes, I've seen it ;) ) and... um... I want to say Mima, but it's almost garunteed that she's already been tagged. Well. I'll say it anyway. Mima!
Okay, there's my three.
I was quite the insane child.
Rules:
1. Follow this format
2. Copy/Paste the rules
3. State who tagged you and add a link to their blog
4. Write 5 crazy things you did as a little kid
5. Tag 5 people
Crazy Things:
1. I was a violent child. I threw things. The worst thing I threw was a hammer. It hit a girl on the head. Eeeps! I think she still hates me.
2. I ate an entire bottle of... Tylenol, I think it was. Ended up in the emergency room.
3. A few days later I ate a bottle of multi-vitamins. Ended up in the emergency room again.
4. Few days later I ate some nuts and bolts from my dads tool box. Went the emergency room and got a blue teddy bear that time. (I was apparently a very hungry child.)
5. I used to be very paranoid. Every little thing was something coming to get me! Ahh!
Huh. On analyzing these things I've realized something. Maybe all those swallowings and emergency rooms have something to do with why I can't swallow pills now. And maybe my throwing past is the reason I can't throw anymore. I'm not quite as angry anymore. I use words more than violent actions to express my emotions; but I'm still paranoid.
Crazy.
This meme has been floating around for a while. So if you haven't been tagged, consider yourself tagged.
2. I still sleep with a blanket I've had all my life.
3. I can't swallow pills. I really can't. They make my throat close up.
4. I'm pretty much allergic to M &Ms
5. I hate fish, except for Tuna.
6. The only place I'm double jointed is my thumb, which I can bend completely backwards and twisted.
A Personal Book Meme
Tagged by Q
1.
What's your favorite nursery rhyme?
Peter, Peter, pumpkin eater. Had a wife but couldn't keep her. Put her in a pumpkin shell and there he kept her very well. (First one that popped into my head. Not even sure that's correct.)
2. First chapter book you read.
Probably a Time Warp Trio or Magic Tree House book.
3. Do you read best in day time?
I read best any time.
4. Or when you are in bed?
*pokes answer to 3*
5. A funny or serious tone?
It all depends. I like funny, but it's generally the serious or especially well-written books that stick with me longest. If you can combine both (B1000) it's fantastic!
6. A favorite character who is a guy.
I've had a crush on Nawat from Trickster's Choice for a very long time. And I absolutely swoon over Book of a Thousand Days' Khan Tegus. *Swoon*
7. Some books you want to own.
"Too many to list. Your brain would explode. Trust me, it's for your own good."
8. And the first book that made you cry.
Probably The Westing Game or The Giver I can't remember which I read first, but I do remember that my mom read them to me and she could hardly finish through her tears.
I tag all those interested.
Ink Mage's Meme Tag
Which book do you irrationally cringe away from reading, despite seeing only positive reviews? Honestly?
Hm… I don’t know… I don’t like anything non-fiction. I’d have to say…
Is there a book I won’t read?
If you could bring three characters to life for a social event (afternoon tea, a night of clubbing, perhaps a world cruise), who would they be and what would the event be?
Easy peasy. Enna (Shannon Hale’s Enna Burning)… okay. Maybe this isn’t so easy.
But we’d go… and do…
I’m bad at this.
(Borrowing shamelessly from the Thursday Next series by Jasper Fforde): you are told you can’t die until you read the most boring novel on the planet. While this immortality is great for awhile, eventually you realise it’s past time to die. Which book would you expect to get you a nice grave?
Criss Cross. I know it won the newbery but YAWN.
Come on, we’ve all been there. Which book have you pretended, or at least hinted, that you’ve read, when in fact you’ve been nowhere near it?
Stargirl is the first one that comes to mind. Everyone seems to have read it… except me.
As an addition to the last question, has there been a book that you really thought you had read, only to realise when you read a review about it/go to ‘reread’ it that you haven’t? Which book?
Nada
You’re interviewing for the post of Official Book Advisor to some VIP (who’s not a big reader). What’s the first book you’d recommend and why? (If you feel like you’d have to know the person, go ahead and personalise the VIP.)
It depends on who it was. My first choice would be B1000 by Shannon Hale, but not everyone would be right for it.
A good fairy comes and grants you one wish: you will have perfect reading comprehension in the foreign language of your choice. Which language do you go with?
FRENCH! J’adore francais! Ah!
A mischievious fairy comes and says that you must choose one book that you will reread once a year for the rest of your life (you can read other books as well). Which book would you pick?
Enna Burning. It’s my favorite for a re-read.
I know that the book blogging community, and its various challenges, have pushed my reading borders. What’s one bookish thing you ‘discovered’ from book blogging (maybe a new genre, or author, or new appreciation for cover art—anything)?
I learned that summarization is not as easy as it seems. And it’s a bad idea to blog on a bad day. Very very bad.
That good fairy is back for one final visit. Now, she’s granting you your dream library! Describe it. Is everything leatherbound? Is it full of first edition hardcovers? Pristine trade paperbacks? Perhaps a few favourite authors have inscribed their works? Go ahead—let your imagination run free.
Linen covers, of all colors. With ribbon bookmarks attached. Warm wooden bookcases and a computer in the corner. All books signed, with personal messages (because I am very close friends with every author). A massage chair, a giant bean-bag, a comfortable arm chair with a foot rest, and finally a big warm bed, for those books that you just want to snuggle up with.
*sigh*
I tag: Cuileann, Taiger, Anidori-Isilee, and Maribeth-Kayla
A break from reviewing
Wow. Busy day. My third entry. Well I'm taking a small break from reviewing and doing a meme. It's my first, so bear with me. I got this from Anilee who got it from Sookie.
1. If I were a planet, I would be: Jupiter, it's big and it's gassy. Tee hee. Actually I would still be Jupiter, I've had a strange fascination with this huge planet.
2. If I were a month, I would be: September. It happens to be my birthday and the beginning of school. Two of my favorite things.
3. If I were a day of the week, I would be: Ooh. Toughy. Hm... I think I'd be a Friday. Sometimes I'm a day off work and school, sometimes I'm not.
4. If I were a time of day, I would be: During the summer I would be 7:00am, it's really pretty. But during all other seasons I would be about 4:00pm. A time to come home and relax.
5. If I were a sea animal, I would be: Oh dear. A sea animal? I would have to say Bubbles from Finding Nemo he's a Yellow Tang.
6. If I were a direction, I would be: Hm... this is hard. I'm all for progress so that would be forward. I'm a dreamer so that would be up. I'm a flip-flopper so that would be left and right. And I'm a procrastinator so that would be backwards.
7. If I were a piece of furniture, I would be: Probably a desk with doodles on it. No bad words scratched into my wood mind ya.
8. If I were a sin, I would be: Pride and Prejudice tape 3, where Darcy proposes to Eliza B. for the first time.
...
Oh! You were talking the 7 deadly sins? Well then I would say... Ooh, it's a tie between anger and gluttony. And pride, and jealousy (are those even part of the 7?).
9. If I were a historical figure, I would be: History was always my worst subject. Maybe... Hm. Napoleon Bonaparte? :P
10. If I were a liquid, I would be: Applebeer. Anyone who hasn't had applebeer is really missing out. It's sweet, it's carbonated and it's "The Soft Drink with a Head" alcohol free.
11. If I were a stone, I would be: Granite. It's simple, but in the right light it sparkles.
12. If I were a tree, I would be: October glory. It looks like every other tree until fall.
13. If I were a bird, I would be: Hm... Something small but showy. Something that thinks it's great, but really isn't. What would that be?
14. If I were a tool, I would be: I have some experience with hammers. But I think I'd be a screwdriver. I can put stuff together, but if you twist too far I just end up crackin' it.
15. If I were a flower/plant, I would be: A pansy. No doubt.
16. If I were a kind of weather, I would be: A rainy day. One of those warm rainy days where all ya want to do is curl up with a good book.
18. If I were an animal, I would be: A dog. Check out "About me" to your right.
